Welcome to our Forge of Empires Archaeology Event 2021. This is the third time there will be such an event.
It has been modified a bit and, of course, there are new unique rewards.
As usual, scrolls are to be collected again.
You start the event with an initial stock of 120 scrolls and get another 40 scrolls for your first log in every day.
Occasionally, more scrolls can be found by collecting the incidents in and around the city.
Then, as usual, there is a long quest line.
The initial 39 rush quests provide 40 scrolls each.
After that, the 21 daily quests provide 50 scrolls each. You should plan long production tasks in advance and have enough production buildings.
With the scrolls you can now acquire tools in the mini-game. It is recommended to always pick the largest tool set and not to buy the tools individually.
With these tools you can then advance the excavation in the event window.
Brushes are rather something for the filigree fine work.
With these, you can uncover a single field.
With a shovel, you can uncover an entire column at once. And dynamite blasts all the surrounding fields.
But don’t worry: blasting does not destroy any relics found, on the contrary, it exposes them undamaged.
However, the effect of shovel and dynamite always ends at the next wall. Their use must therefore be carefully considered.
When you see a relic, that’s not enough. You first have to uncover the respective field, typically with a brush, and then click on the element to transfer it to the inventory.
In most cases, the brush will be the most appropriate tool. However, in some situations it can be helpful to use a shovel or dynamite.
During the excavations you can find more tools and relics like vases, which contain well-known possible prizes, including a daily changing special with a 5%, 7% or 10% chance, depending on the vase.
The archaeology event is, compared to other events, relatively stingy with daily specials.
It will rather not be enough to assemble a complete world-building from scratch.
But you can get a possibly missing kit from the antique dealer.
Besides the World’s Fair and the Airship, the main prizes of the previous years, there are quite a few other daily prizes. Once again, the globe fountain is included.
During the excavations you can also find clay tablets.
Each of them starts a small extra quest series with 5 quests. The first 4 give 5 scrolls each as a reward, the 5th task then gives a special prize of medium quality.
If you have completed each of the 8 mini-quests, you get a set of tools for further excavations plus an avatar.
By the way, you can find some more avatars directly at the excavations.
Then there is a calendar, modeled after the Advent calendar.
Every day it offers a possible small prize and finally a special reward if on all days the calendar was opened with a gem found during the excavations.
On the one hand, this disrupts the focus to dig on days with great daily specials.
On the other hand, the continuous opening of the calendar is only possible with the massive use of diamonds.
This is not really improved by diamond shards, which can be used to make up for missed previous days.
Many will feel this already on the very first day.
All in all, the number of scrolls is extremely tight compared to last year.
Even with a surprise box, you can only get the event building to the highest level from the normal amount of scrolls with a lot of luck.
Therefore, players should explore all possibilities to get more scrolls. Besides the incidents around the city, the mini-quests from the clay tablets are especially suitable for this.
Therefore, this time dig out early to find clay tablets and do these additional tasks, otherwise, the number of scrolls will not be enough.
We recommend opening the calendar when it comes up, but otherwise ignore it.
You need 20 Golden Idols to get a Grand Prize.
Grand prizes are then upgrade kits for the Ferris wheel. You get the new event building at level 1 for completing the 5th quest.
Then there are 2 upgrade kits as quest series milestones and the rest then as 2nd Grand Prize each in the mini-game.
Another upgrade kit comes from the surprise box.
In the end, it gets extremely tight and it takes either many mini-quest series or luck to be able to upgrade the new building to level 10.
At this highest level, you have the choice between two variants of the Ferris wheel.
Besides minor differences in forge points and goods, it is mainly a matter of weighing whether attack strength or defense bonus is needed more for the attacking army.
For many players, the defensive bonus lags badly behind the attacking army.
If so, this is a welcome opportunity to tweak it.
A very good event building is certainly incentive enough to clearly focus on the most important goal in this event: getting the Ferris wheel to the highest level.
In addition to the fun of this event, this means that something from the event will remain in the city permanently, which really helps.
We can all look forward to that.
